This Week for the Redhawks: The Seattle University men's soccer (2-5-2) remains at home this week to host a pair of conference opponents. The Redhawks open the weekend with San Jose State (6-3-1) on Friday, Oct. 8, in a 1 p.m. match. Two days later, Sacramento State (5-2-2) will head to the Emerald City to square off with SU in a 1:30 p.m. contest.

Last Time Out: The Redhawks struggled to get their offense in sync, as they fell 1-0 to Cal State Bakersfield on Oct. 3. Despite possession being split between both sides, the Roadrunners were able to find an opening and get the ball into the back of the net in the second half.

Agoos' Thoughts: "We are looking forward to this weekend, after improving on things from last week. We had opportunities last week, but had trouble finishing, so we're looking forward to getting back out there and moving forward," said head coach Brad Agoos.

Follow the Game: Fans can follow all the Redhawk men's soccer action this weekend by logging onto www.GoSeattleU.com. Live stats will be available for their matches versus SJUS and CSUS. Live Twitter and Facebook updates will also be available.

Home Field Advantage:  The Redhawks are looking to use their home field advantage to get into the win column this weekend. They currently are riding a 0-1-2 streak at home, ending their winless run in their MPSF opener versus CSU Bakersfield on Oct. 3

Dizdar Makes the Save: Senior goalkeeper Ivan Dizdar currently is No. 1 in the MPSF in both save total, with 59, and saves per game, with 6.56. He is one of the top goalkeepers, statistically, in the conference and is a national save leader in the NCAA.

Versus Ranked Opponents: The Redhawks have played a pair of ranked opponents this season. They kicked off the year with then-No. 5 Tulsa on Sept. 4, and most recently took on then-No. 24 Portland on Sept. 26. Versus both ranked teams, SU has played very competitively and their offense has only been outscored 4-2 by the ranked squads.

In the MPSF: After an opening weekend loss, the Redhawks are currently No. 4 in the Pacific Division.

Rookies Continuing to Make Strides: The diaper dandies in the Redhawk lineup continue to make their impact felt. Head coach Brad Agoos has seen significant minutes from freshmen Brady Ballew, Renato Bandeira, Nico De la Cruz and Ben Striar.

Scouting San Jose State:  The Spartans of San Jose State (6-3-1) concluded their conference opening weekend with a 0-0 double overtime draw versus Sacramento State on Oct. 3.  SJSU outshot Sac State in the game 21-8.

Prior to MPSF play, SJSU recorded a 2-1 comeback win against University of San Francisco on Sept. 26.  After finishing the non-conference season with one of the best records in the MPSF (6-3), San Jose State is now tied for second in the Pacific Division.

Leading the Spartans is senior midfielder Josh Boemecke, who has scored six goals for twelve points this season.  Also in the midfield, Nick Cukar leads the Spartans in assists with three on the year, including an assist on the game-winning goal versus San Francisco.

The Spartans have used three different goalkeepers this season.  Jonathan Lester has played the majority of the minutes between the posts, tallying 657:50 minutes in seven games.  He has a 4-2-1- record, a 0.96 goals against average and 21 saves on the year.  Rene Martinez and Doug Highton have also made appearances in goal for SJSU this season.  Martinez has played in three games, posting nine saves and a two-win record.  Highton has seen action in only one game.

Scouting Sacramento State: The Sacramento State Hornets (5-2-2) are coming off their first conference game with a 0-0 double overtime draw versus San Jose State on Oct. 3.

Prior to conference action CSUS earned a 2-0 win over then-No. 10 UC Irvine on Sept. 19.  The Hornets are currently 1-1 on the road, but haven't lost a game since Sept. 5, when they fell to then-No. 11 Duke 1-4.

Sac State is lead by forward Chris Bettencourt, who leads the team with three goals on the season.  He is also tied with Fernando Cabadas with a team-leading three assists.

Defensively, CSUS has employed two freshmen goalkeepers, Cesar Castillo and Federico Antonelli.  Castillo has played seven games, tallying 32 saves and allowing six goals for a 0.86 goals against average on the season.  Antonelli has appeared in three games for the Hornets, making eight saves and allowing four goals on the year.
