In a dual meet against the University of Hawaii in Pearl City, Hawaii on Friday and Saturday, the Seattle U swimming team set multiple personal bests despite losing both days. On Friday, the men’s scores were 152-77 and the women 146-86. Saturday was closer, with the men falling 177-106 and the women 177-110.

On Friday evening, junior Jordan Anderson (Newberg, Ore.) won the 50 yd. freestyle in 20.40 and junior James Gilmore (Eugene, Ore.) won the 200 IM in 1:53.29. The men’s team also prevailed in the 400 yd. medley relay with a time of 3:23.42.

Sophomore Rachel Leighter (Eugene, Ore.) came first in the 200 yd. backstroke with a time of 2:08.08 and junior Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.) won the 200 breaststroke in a personal best of 2:20.85.

Saturday afternoon again saw action from Anderson and Gilmore, with Anderson taking the 50 yd. freestyle in 20.46 and the 100 yd. freestyle in 45.58, and Gilmore winning the 400 IM with a time of 4:05.07. Sophomore Murray Longbotham (Mercer Island, Wash.) also won the 200 yd. freestyle in 1:41.99.

For the Redhawk women, Morehouse won the 100 yd. breaststroke in 1:05.95 and again took the 200 breaststroke in 2:22.46. In the 100, Morehouse was quickly followed by teammates sophomore Kevlyn Richards (Gig Harbor, Wash.) in second with 1:07.23 and Karla Ruff (Seattle, Wash.) in third with a time of 1:08.33.

The swim team will next head to Stockton, Calif. on Nov. 6 for a meet against University of the Pacific, Loyola Marymount, and CSU Bakersfield.
