Sarah Jaeckel (Littleton, Colo.) led Seattle U with 17 kills, plus she posted a .306 hitting percentage and collected six digs. Julia Bonadio (Phoenix, Ariz.) contributed 10 kills and a .500 hitting percentage, while Cristin Richards (Olympia, Wash.) earned nine kills and seven digs. Sarah Lewicki (Herald, Calif.) played the first three sets at the setter position, collecting 32 assists, Emily Deleissegues (Aromas, Calif.) led the team with 10 digs, and Megan Augustavo (Shoreline, Wash.) added eight digs.
Trinity Western, a team out of Langley, B.C., was led by Royale Richardson's 13 kills and Amy Leschied, who finished with 12 kills, two service aces, and three block assists. The setting duties was split between Chelsea Hudson (20 assists) and Lauren Moncks (17 assists), Jacqueline Tait led all players with three service aces, and Alicia Perrin contributed seven kills and five total blocks to the winning effort.
After hitting .542 in winning the first set, Seattle University hit just .126 for the rest of the match for a final hitting percentage of .216, making as many errors as kills in the fourth set. The Redhawks were victimized by 14 Trinity Western aces, plus they made 11 service errors of their own against only three service aces.
Seattle University (7-10) hits the road again next week for matches at Big Sky schools Eastern Washington Monday, Oct. 4, and Portland State Thursday, Oct. 7. The Redhawks return to the Connolly Center next Saturday, Oct. 9, to face Idaho State beginning at 7 p.m.
