The Seattle University volleyball team concluded its participation in the ASU Sheraton Classic Saturday morning as San Diego State earned a 3-0 victory (25-21, 25-18, 25-18) at Wells Fargo Arena.

Playing in front of family and friends, Julia Bonadio (Phoenix, Ariz.) led the Redhawks with 11 kills and a .526 hitting percentage. Sarah Jaeckel (Littleton, Colo.) contributed five kills, three assists, and six digs, Jordan Keller (Mukilteo, Wash.) earned four block assists at the net, and Emily Deleissegues (Aromas, Calif.) led the backline with 10 digs. Cristin Richards (Olympia, Wash.) was held to seven kills and three digs, the first match this season in which she did not reach double figures in either category.

The first set was the most competitive, as Seattle U rallied from a 5-1 deficit to eventually take the lead at 13-11 on back-to-back kills by Richards and Kelly Biette (Brighton, Colo.). San Diego State went on a 7-1 run to take the lead for good, and consecutive kills by Paije Pearson and Andrea Hannasch closed out the set for the Aztecs.

San Diego State (5-1) won the first four points of the second set and never looked back. In the third set, the Aztecs scored six unanswered points to pull out to a 10-5 advantage, and after Seattle U cut its deficit to two at 10-8, San Diego State went on scoring runs of 6-3 and 5-1 to complete the sweep.

Lauren Salisbury led the Aztecs with 13 kills in 22 attack attempts without an error for a .591 hitting percentage, while Kyley Sexton earned 12 kills and seven digs and Raegan Shelton contributed 10 kills, four digs, and two block assists. Hannasch finished with nine kills, two service aces, four digs, and five block assists, and setter Johnna Fouch collected 39 assists, five digs, and four block assists.

Seattle University (2-4) returns home for a Labor Day contest against nationally-ranked Oregon Monday, Sept. 6, beginning at 6 p.m. in the Connolly Center North Court. Live stats for the match will be available on GoSeattleU.com.
