Preston Matchett (Billings, Mont.) tied for the low Seattle U round of the day with a 73 (+1) to become the team's top finisher, tying for 42nd place with a cumulative score of 220 (+4). Paul Pavlos (Woodinville, Wash.) and Jordan Beals (Enumclaw, Wash.) once again matched scores, each shooting a final round 74 (+2) for a three-round score of 223 (+7) to finish in a tie for 63rd place.
Kris Jackson (Snohomish, Wash.) shot 77 in the final round to finish in a tie for 67th place with a three-round total of 224 (+8). Chris Holway (Longview, Wash.) shot the other 73 for the Redhawks to move up into a tie for 72nd place with a cumulative score of 226 (+10). Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) shot 79 in the third round for a final score of 230 (+14), finishing in a tie for 81st place.
Seattle University posted its second straight score of 297 (+9) in the third round, resulting in a three-day total of 889 (+25), one shot behind Utah Valley University. Washington State won the tournament on its home course after a final-round 284 resulted in a cumulative score of 827 (-37), 12 strokes ahead of second-place Idaho. Idaho players did finish 1-2 in the individual standings, as Damian Telles shot a final-round 65 for a three-round score of 201 (-15), two strokes clear of teammate Jarred Bossio.
The Seattle University men's golf team will next compete at the Saint Martin's Invitational in Olympia, Wash., Friday and Saturday, Sept. 24-25. The Redhawks will compete in the America Sky Championship at Troon North Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz., May 2-4, 2011.
