Senior Kris Jackson (Snohomish, Wash.) and sophomore Preston Matchett (Billings, Mont.) led the way for Seattle U, each finishing the first day in a tie for 50th place with a two-round score of 147 (+3). Junior Paul Pavlos (Woodinville, Wash.) posted scores of 72 and 77 for a two-round total of 149 (+5), good enough for a tie for 65th place. Freshman Jordan Beals (Enumclaw, Wash.), playing as an individual competitor, earned the same scores in his first collegiate tournament.
Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) ended the first day in a tie for 75th place after rounds of 78 and 73 gave him a cumulative score of 151 (+7). Chris Holway (Longview, Wash.) finished the day in a tie for 80th place after rounds of 77 and 76 resulted in a two-round total of 153 (+9).
As a team, Seattle University posted rounds of 295 (+7) and 297 (+9) for a cumulative score of 592 (+16), four strokes ahead of Utah Valley. The Redhawks are just six strokes behind Gonzaga and seven strokes behind Cal State Northridge. Washington State leads the team competition by ten strokes over Portland. Nick Ellis of Washington State and Jarred Bossio of Idaho share the lead in the individual standings.
Beals will tee off from the first hole at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, while the rest of the team will begin the third and final round from the tenth tee at 7:40 a.m.
