The Seattle University baseball team did not enjoy the same offensive production as the previous night, as Creighton University did enough to earn a 3-1 victory Saturday afternoon at the CU Sports Complex.

Creighton (23-21) took the lead in the first inning as Jimmy Swift picked up a one-out double to left field, advanced to third on a groundout, and scored on a single by T.J. Roemmich. Seattle University tied the game in the third inning when Josh Kutz (Seattle, Wash.) led off with a double, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on a single by Doug Buser (Orinda, Calif.).

The Bluejays took the lead for good in the sixth inning as Swift led off with a single, stole second base, advanced to third on a deep fly ball to center field, and scored on Roemmich's single to left field. Creighton would pick up an insurance run in the seventh inning when Ian Dike led off with a home run, his fifth of the season.

Brandon Kizer (Marysville, Wash.) took the loss, allowing six hits, one walk, and three runs in six innings, leaving the game after giving up the home run to Dike. Eric Yardley (Richland, Wash.) allowed only one walk in 1 1/3 innings of work, while Conor Spink (Eagle River, Alaska) erased the hit he gave up by inducing a double play to end the eighth inning.

Ty Blach earned the victory for Creighton, giving up four hits, three walks, and one run in seven innings while striking out six batters. After Bobby Lackovic allowed one hit in the eighth inning, Mark Winkelman set down the Redhawks in order in the ninth inning to collect his second save of the season.

Seattle U was held to five hits, as no player earned more than one hit during the contest. On the other side, Roemmich went 3-for-4 with two runs batted in, while Swift hit 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
