The Redhawks, who were undefeated in their pair of Friday contests, could not carry that momentum into their final match of the season. The lone match winners on the day were Kanehira and Mark Shkretbtan (Redmond, Wash.). The No. 1 doubles pair outlasted Longwood's tandem of Marc Ferrigno and Milo Barajas-Alexander, 8-6. After winning the top-position doubles match, the Redhawks No. 2 and 3 teams were unable to see victories in their matches to break SU onto the board.
Following dropping the doubles point, the Redhawks were unable to find rhythm in their singles matches and the Lancers, who were playing on their home courts, took advantage of it. At the No. 6 singles position, Kanehira battled Longwood's Adham Halabi into a three set match. After falling 6-1, he took the second set 6-2. In the third set Halabi was able to outlast the Redhawk rookie to take it 13-11.
Despite being shutout in their final match of the year, SU did battle hard to the wire and the tournament marked their season-long progression and improvement.
