"I am very pleased for both Ashley and Tatiana," said head coach Joan Bonvicini. "It is a great way to cap off their seasons."
Senior Brown had a tremendous senior season for SeattleU. In addition to being the team's offensive leader throughout the season, averaging 13.1 points per game, she scored an astounding 87 three-pointers. In 29 games played, she averaged 4.9 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.4 assists per game. Brown scored over 20 points in five games this season. The forward scored in double-figures in 19 games, including breaking her career-high with a 24 point performance on Jan. 3, versus Portland. In the game she made six beyond the arc baskets and tallied nine boards. Brown was honored twice this season, as she was named MVP of the SeattleU Thanksgiving Tournament and to the Longwood All-Tournament Team.
"Ashley had a terrific year and is a prolific three-point shooter," Bonvicini said. "It is great that she earned this honor, among the other honors she received this year, to cap off her senior year and career."
Center Heck improved her game dramatically throughout the season. She made herself a strong inside presence for the Redhawks and was the second-top scorer averaging 11.0 points per game. The junior scored in double-digits in 10 of SU's last 12 games, including a career-high evening versus North Dakota on Feb. 16. She established new career numbers in both points and rebounds, with 24 and 13, respectively. It was her first career double-double, as well. On the year, she averaged 5.1 boards, for second best, and 1.1 assists. She was also voted the SeattleU team MVP and Most Improved Player.
"Tatiana only began to scratch the surface of her ability this season," said Bonvicini. "This is a great honor for her, to continue to motivate her to improve for next season. With all the work she has done this year and continues to do, we are excited to see her in action next year."
The Redhawks concluded their first full season at the NCAA DI level with a 6-24 overall record.
