Lana Cox (San Clemente, Calif.) led the way for the SeattleU women, shooting rounds of 80 and 85 over the par-74 course to finish in a tie for 12th place with a cumulative score of 165 (+17). Christine Cook (Yakima, Wash.) led the Redhawks with three birdies on her way to rounds of 82 and 84 for a two-day total of 166 (+18), good enough for a tie for 14th place.
Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.), Caitlin McCleary (The Dalles, Ore.), and Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) all finished in a tie for 21st place with a final score of 169 (+21). Pearson shot rounds of 82 and 87, McCleary notched 18 pars on her way to scores of 85 and 84, and Quinn posted rounds of 80 and 89. Michelle Grome (Edmonds, Wash.) also competed in the tournament, finishing in 40th place with rounds of 96 and 95.
As a team, the Redhawk women posted scores of 324 and 340 for a two-day total of 664 (+72), ahead of host school Cal State Bakersfield and only one stroke behind Cal State Fullerton. Cal Poly won the team competition by seven strokes over UC Riverside, with Amelia Ek of UC Riverside earning the individual title by two strokes.
On the men's side, Rob Seibly (Spokane, Wash.) was the team's top finisher, combining rounds of 78, 71, and 75 for a three-round total of 224 (+8) to finish in a tie for 17th place. Ian Dahl (Longview, Wash.) finished in a tie for 27th place with a cumulative score of 229 (+13) after rounds of 77, 76, and 76.
Alec Pakzad (Bellevue, Wash.) notched scores of 76, 77, and 79 for a final score of 232 (+16) and a tie for 32nd place. Chris Holway (Longview, Wash.) finished in 36th place after rounds of 81, 76, and 80 put him at 237 (+21) for the tournament, and Justin Goar (Montesano, Wash.) shot rounds of 81, 81, and 76 for a final total of 238 (+22) and a 37th place finish.
The SeattleU men posted scores of 312, 300, and 306 for a total of 918 (+54). Cal Poly finished first in the team standings, five strokes ahead of Cal State Bakersfield, while Levi Garcia of Cal State Bakersfield shot a final-round 69 to win the individual competition by two strokes.
The Seattle University golf teams are scheduled to conclude their spring seasons in two weeks at the Cowboy Classic and Cowgirl Classic, hosted by the University of Wyoming on April 5-6. The men will be in Scottsdale, Ariz., while the women will be playing in nearby Chandler, Ariz.
