Up Next for the Redhawks: The Seattle University women's basketball team will conclude the 2009-10 season at the Longwood Tournament in Farmville, Va. Participating in the two-day tournament are: Florida Gulf Coast, North Carolina Central and host Longwood. The Redhawks will open the weekend with FGCU (22-6 overall, 16-3 Atlantic Sun) on Saturday, Mar. 6, in an 11 a.m. PT contest. They will close out the tournament and the season with either NCCU or LU.

Last Time Out: The Redhawks closed out the home-half of the 2009-10 schedule with a 64-44 loss to Cal State Bakersfield on Feb. 20. Despite struggling to get their complete offensive game going, junior center Tatiana Heck had a standout performance. She scored a game-leading 22 points, including going 10-for-17 from the field.

2009-10 Comes to a Close: The Longwood Tournament will mark the conclusion of the 2009-10 season. SeattleU will look to build upon their 6-22 record while in Farmville, Va.

Movin' on Up: Junior Tatiana Heck scored a game-leading 22 points on Feb. 22, versus Cal State Bakersfield in the Redhawks final home game of the 2009-10 season. She has scored in double-figures in nine of SU's last 10 contests and is averaging 10.9 points per game. She is second on the team in point average.

On the year, the Mountlake Terrace, Wash. native established a new career high this season with 24 points on Feb. 16, versus North Dakota at KeyArena at Seattle Center.

McCarthy is on the Board: Sophomore forward Maggie McCarthy heads into the final weekend of action maintaining her stance as the team's top rebounder, as she is averaging 5.3 boards per game. This season she was shy of breaking the 10 rebound mark twice, with nine boards versus Sacramento State on Nov. 25, and versus North Dakota on Feb. 16.

Trio of Top Scorers: The Redhawks ride into Farmville, Va. behind their trio of top scorers: senior Ashley Brown, sophomore Elle Kerfoot and junior Tatiana Heck. SeattleU's offense has been headlined all season by Brown, who's averaging 13.1 points per game. The Kirkland, Wash. native posted a career high 24 points on Jan. 3, versus Portland, and has knocked down 81 three-pointers in 27 games played.

Kerfoot, in 17 games played, is averaging 10.8 points per game. She was the first player this season to have a double-double, with 12 points and 10 rebounds at Boise State on Dec. 21.

Rounding out the trio is Heck, who has scored in double-figures in nine of her last 10 outings and is averaging 10.9 points per game.

Scouting Florida Gulf Coast: SeattleU will face off with Florida Gulf Coast (22-6 overall, 16-3 Atlantic Sun) in their opening game of the Longwood Tournament. The Eagles currently have won 10 of their last 12 games, but head to Virginia after falling 86-78 on Feb. 25, to USC Upstate.

In the game, five players scored in double-figures, led by Chelsea Lyles with 21. Courtney Chihil had 10 points and a team-leading five rebounds, while Adrianne McNally was the second top scorer with 20 points.

On the year, Lyles and McNally lead the offense with 12.8 points per game each. Following is Shannon Murphy with 11.3 points in 33.0 minutes of action. Chihil is the team's top rebounder with 6.2 boards per game.

Saturday's meeting between the Eagles and the Redhawks will be the first in program history.

Game 28 Recap - CS Bakersfield

Feb. 22, 2010 - L 44-64

In their final home contest of the 2009-10 campaign, the Seattle University women's basketball team fell 64-44 to Cal State Bakersfield Saturday evening. The Redhawks could not gather enough offensive momentum to stymie the aggressive and accurate Roadrunners. With the loss SU falls to 6-22 on the year, while CSUB improves to 16-10. The game marked the final home game for seniors Cassidy Murillo and Ashley Brown.

On Senior Night, junior Tatiana Heck had a standout game, scoring a game-leading 22 points. She has scored in double-figures in nine of her last 10 outings for the Redhawks. Heck also grabbed down six boards and was a strong inside presence for SU. Unfortunately for SeattleU, despite a strong inside presence from Heck, their offense was not able to connect and garner much momentum throughout the 40 minute contest.
