Alex Jones (Phoenix, Ariz.) led five players in double figures with a season-high 19 points as the Seattle University men's basketball team jumped on top early and cruised to a 98-67 victory over Sacramento State Saturday afternoon at KeyArena at Seattle Center.

Jones shot 8-of-11 from the field and made all three of his free throw attempts in totaling his 19 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Chris Gweth (Beaverton, Ore.) finished with 16 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Cervante Burrell (Sacramento, Calif.) collected 15 points, three rebounds, and two assists in the game.

The Redhawks jumped out to a 15-2 lead in the first four minutes of the game and never let the lead fall below double digits. SeattleU shot a season-best 61.0 percent (36-of-59) from the field, including 6-of-12 from behind the three-point line, and 83.3 percent (20-of-24) from the free throw line. SeattleU also won the rebounding battle, 41-29, and forced Sacramento State into 17 turnovers, 13 of them in the first half.

Coming off the bench for the third time this season, Charles Garcia (Los Angeles, Calif.) contributed 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds along with three assists and a blocked shot. Mike Boxley (Mountlake Terrace, Wash.), also coming off the bench, hit three shots from long distance to finish with 11 points. Earning his second consecutive start, Garrett Lever (Phoenix, Ariz.) added eight points, three rebounds, two assists, and three steals to the winning effort.

Sacramento State (9-17) was led by Justin Eller with 18 points and five rebounds, while Duro Bjegovic scored 10 points and Jared Stigall added eight points, three rebounds, and three assists. Having shot 52.9 percent from the field, including 65.4 percent in the second half, in the first meeting, the Hornets were held to 34.4 percent from the field (21-of-61) in this game.

Seattle University (12-13) looks to extend its winning streak as it faces UC Davis Tuesday, Feb. 16, a team the Redhawks defeated, 88-78, in Sacramento on Dec. 5. The game is the second half of a basketball doubleheader, as the SeattleU women will face North Dakota at KeyArena beginning at 4:10 p.m. on Tuesday. Tip time for the men's game is set for 7:10 p.m., with Dave Grosby and Gary Hill, Jr., broadcasting the action from courtside on 710 ESPN Seattle beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are on sale through Ticketmaster.com or at the KeyArena Box Office the day of the game.
