The Seattle University women's swim team earned one event victory and was competitive in the other events, but Washington State showed its prowess with a 191-70 victory Saturday afternoon at the Connolly Center Pool.

In the most competitive race of the day, freshman Kevlyn Richards (Gig Harbor, Wash.) squeaked past teammate Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.) and Jessie Craig of Washington State, winning the 100 breaststroke in 1:06.57, 11/100ths of a second ahead of Morehouse and 24/100ths of a second in front of Craig. Richards also finished second in the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.52, just 42/100ths of a second ahead of Craig.

Elizabeth Hanohano (Honolulu, Hawaii) earned second-place finishes in three events, finishing in second in the 200 freestyle (1:55.92), the 100 freestyle (53.12), and the 100 butterfly (59.13). Rachel Leighter (Eugene, Ore.) finished in second place in the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:09.15 going along with a third-place finish in the 100 backstroke in 1:01.17.

Marina Pomar-Enders (Mill Creek, Wash.) finished in third place in the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:46.33. Briley Boggs (Federal Way, Wash.) earned a third place finish in the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.80 seconds, and Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.) finished in third place in the 200 individual medley in 2:14.86.

Washington State, now 2-2 in dual meets this season, set four Connolly Center Pool records during the event. The 200 medley relay team of Shelbi Luchini, Craig, Michaela Ahlin, and Rugile Mileisyte started off the afternoon with a victory in 1:46.97. Mileisyte set the pool record in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.89 seconds, while Ahlin set a new facility standard in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:04.13. The meet concluded with Talor Whitaker, Ahlin, Evelina Bieleckaite, and Mileisyte winning the 400 freestyle relay in 3:31.45.

The Seattle University women's swim team (5-9-1 in dual meets) continues its three-meet homestand by welcoming the University of Alaska to the Connolly Center Pool Wednesday, Jan. 20, for a 1 p.m. meet. The men will join the women for the final home meet of the season next Saturday, Jan. 23, against Simon Fraser and Concordia, also beginning at 1 p.m.
