With four players scoring in double figures and Seattle University enjoying a significant rebounding edge, the Redhawks earned their second road win of the season, an 88-78 victory over the UC Davis Aggies Saturday afternoon at the Pavilion.

Chris Gweth (Beaverton, Ore.) scored a season-high 22 points, hitting three shots from long distance and all five of his free throw attempts, plus he collected five rebounds, three assists, and three steals. Charles Garcia (Los Angeles, Calif.) notched his fifth double-double for the season, finishing with 22 points and 12 rebounds.

After UC Davis (3-5) scored the first four points of the second half to take the lead, SeattleU went on a 12-2 run, led by traditional three-point plays from Mike Boxley (Mountlake Terrace, Wash.) and Gweth and a Garcia three-pointer, to regain the lead, 54-44. Back-to-back three-pointers by Gweth and Garcia allowed the Redhawks to take their biggest lead of the game (65-48) halfway through the second half.

The Aggies came within six points at 80-74 with over a minute left in regulation, but a basket by Garrett Lever (Phoenix, Ariz.) made it a three-possession game, and SeattleU went 6-for-8 from the free throw line at one stretch to put the game away.

Playing in his hometown, Cervante Burrell (Sacramento, Calif.) finished with 16 points, five assists, and three steals, while Aaron Broussard (Federal Way, Wash.) contributed 12 points and seven rebounds. Alex Jones (Phoenix, Ariz.) had another solid game off the bench with eight points, four rebounds, and two blocked shots, and Lever added five rebounds and four assists to the winning effort.

In a repeat of Thursday night's game at Cal Poly, Seattle University took the early lead, as a feed from Gweth to Jones for an easy bucket gave the Redhawks a 20-13 lead. UC Davis went on a 16-3 run over the next four minutes, led by two three-pointers from Dominic Calegari and one from Julian Welch, to pull ahead, 29-23, with 6:34 remaining in the half.

SeattleU struck back, scoring the next nine points to regain a three-point advantage. The two teams traded baskets for the remainder of the half, with Jones answering a three-pointer from Welch with one of his own to help the Redhawks take a 41-38 lead into the locker room at halftime.

Calegari and Mark Payne tied for the Aggie lead in scoring with 22 points each, with Calegari also earning six rebounds and three steals and Payne picking up four rebounds, three assists, three steals, and four blocked shots. Welch scored 15 points off the bench as UC Davis shot 49.2 percent from the field, including 7-of-18 from behind the three-point line, and 68.8 percent (11-of-16) from the free throw line.

Seattle University dominated the boards, pulling down 46 rebounds, including 19 offensive boards, while allowing UC Davis to grab only 26 rebounds. The Redhawks shot 47 percent from the field, including 7-of-18 from long distance, and 19-of-29 from the free throw line.

Seattle University (5-4) returns home and spends the next week taking finals while mixing in some practices. The Redhawks will next travel across Washington for a Saturday matinee against Eastern Washington on Dec. 12 in Cheney, Wash., starting at 1:05 p.m., with Dave Grosby and Gary Hill, Jr., providing the broadcast on 710 ESPN Seattle.
