Up Next for the Redhawks: The Seattle University women's basketball team will close out their four game holiday road swing with a pair of games in the Golden State. They will begin at Cal Poly (6-4) on Tuesday, Dec. 28, in San Luis Obispo. Tip time is slated for 2 p.m. PT. The following evening SU will return to the court to take on the Lions of Loyola Marymount (6-6) in Los Angeles. Game time is set for 5 p.m. PT.

Last Time Out: The Redhawks (3-12) were unable to get their first road win of the season at Boise State on Dec. 22. SU fell 57-47 after battling the Broncos to the finish. Late in the second half, BSU was able to protect their short lead and extend it to double digits to hand SeattleU their 12th loss of the season.

Sophomore guard Elle Kerfoot earned the team's first double-double of the season. In her second straight start on the year, the Surrey, B.C. native tallied 12 points and 10 boards. Senior Ashley Brown scored a team-leading 18 points, while Maggie McCarthy led the squad with four dishes.

On Deck: After playing four straight games on the road, SU returns home to host the University of Portland on Sunday, Jan. 3, in a 2 p.m. contest in the Connolly Center.

It will be a Redhawk doubleheader at LMU, as the SU men face the Lion's following the women's game.

Kerfoot Tallies First Double-Double of the Year: Sophomore Elle Kerfoot earned the Redhawks' first double-double of the season at Boise State on Dec. 22. She scored 12 points and tallied 10 boards to lead the team's rebounding efforts.

This season the Surrey, B.C. native has seen action in four contests, including two straight starts, after missing the first leg of the season. She is averaging 10.3 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 30.3 minutes of action.

Four-Game Road Swing: The Redhawks will take to the road for four games to close out the first half to the 2009-10 schedule. They will begin at Oregon State on Dec. 18, followed by a final pre-holiday trip to Boise State on Dec. 21. To close out 2009, SU will play a pair of games in the Golden State. On Dec. 29, SeattleU will tip off against Cal Poly and close out the road swing with Loyola Marymount on Dec. 30.

Brown Continues Dominate Offensive Steak: Senior Ashley Brown continues to maintain her strong offensive prowess this year, as she is averaging 14.6 points per game. She has been the team's leading scorer in 10 of the 14 contests she's played in and has scored a team-leading 48 3-pointers thus far.

The Kirkland, Wash. native scored a career-high 23 points on Nov. 29, versus UW-Milwaukee. Following her strong performance at the SeattleU Thanksgiving Tournament, she was named tournament MVP.

Second Trip to the Golden State: The Redhawks take to the road for their second of five trips this year to California to take on Cal Poly and Loyola Marymount. They previously played at UC Irvine on Dec. 5., where they were edged 60-59 by the Anteaters.

SU will return to the Golden State to take on Cal State Bakersfield (Jan. 16), Cal State Fullerton (Jan. 27) and Cal State Northridge (Feb. 10) on three separate trips later this season.

Scouting Cal Poly: The Mustangs of Cal Poly return home after their own four-game road swing. CP (6-4) went 3-1, seeing their lone loss at Loyola Marymount on Dec. 19, and are coming off a 63-55 victory over Santa Clara in Santa Clara, Calif. Kristina Santiago headlined both offenses with 21 points and five boards in 25 minutes of action. Rachel Clancy just missed earning a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, and Ashlee Stewart dished out a team-leading four assists.

On the year, Santiago leads Cal Poly with 18.4 points and 6.8 boards in 28.2 minutes on the floor. Becky Tratter is the only other play to average double-digit points with 10.0 jumpers in 25.3 minutes. Desiray Johnston leads the squad in assists, averaging 3.2 per game.

It has been two decades since SeattleU has faced Cal Poly. In their only previous meeting in program history, SU defeated the Mustangs 78-69 on Dec. 19, 1988 in Seattle.

Scouting Loyola Marymount: Loyola Marymount (6-6) split results at home in their last home stand. Versus Cal Poly on Dec. 19, they defeated the Mustangs 80-63. Three Lion's scored in double-digits, with Renahy Young leading the team with 26 points, followed by Candice Nichols' 22 points. Rounding out the double-digit scoring trio was Alex Cowling who tallied 15 points and six boards.

Two days later, LMU fell 75-54 to San Diego State. Cowling led the Lion offense with 21 points and five rebounds. Melanie Ysaguirre followed with 10 points and four offensive boards. Young dished out six assists and tallied two defensive boards, in the losing effort.

Cowling leads Loyola Marymount on the year, averaging 15.2 points and 6.5 rebounds in 30.0 minutes of action. Young follows with 14.9 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game. This season the Lion starting lineup has seen several changes, as 10 players have earned a starting nod in LMU's first 12 contests.

This will be the first time in program history that the Redhawks will face the Lions.

Prior to hosting SU, LMU will play at UCLA on Monday, Dec. 28.

Game 15 Recap - Boise State

Dec. 22, 2009 - L 47-57

After a 40 minute battle to the finish, the Seattle University women's basketball team came out on the losing end to Boise State Monday evening. The Redhawks, who played neck-and-neck with the Broncos all night fell 57-47 in Boise, Idaho.

After heading into the intermission down by three points, the Redhawks came out and worked tirelessly to cut down the Bronco lead. Despite garnering a one point second half lead, BSU was able to continually respond and eventually take a final point advantage.

On the game, Elle Kerfoot was the first Redhawk this season to earn a double-double with 12 points and 10 boards. Ashley Brown scored a team-leading 18 points, while Maggie McCarthy's stats came in fours - in boards, points and assists.
