Game Five Recap - Dayton

Nov. 22, 2009 - L 68-54

In the final game of the Basketball Travelers Invitational Classic, the Seattle University women's basketball team was stymied 75-37 by the University of Dayton Sunday afternoon. The Redhawks return home winless on the season, while the top team in the BTI Classic improves to 4-1 on the year.

The Dayton offense dominated play and their defense prevented the Redhawks from creating solid scoring opportunities throughout the contest. The Flyers were consistently aggressive and made their presence known. Leading the UD charge were Justine Ratterman and Elle Queen, who each had 12 points on the day.

The Flyers' outrebounded SeattleU 45-24 and shot 50.0 percent in the game. Amidst a flurry of Dayton baskets, SU's offense struggled to set their plays and find open lanes between the Flyer post players. With each missed opportunity to score by Seattle, UD was there to capitalize on it. They scored 18 points on SU's 25 turnovers.

Game Four Recap - Georgetown

Nov. 21, 2009 - L 68-54

Despite a late second half surge, the Seattle University women's basketball team could not earn the point advantage over Georgetown University Saturday evening. The Redhawks fell 68-54 to the Hoyas in game two of the Basketball Travelers Invitational Classic hosted at Purdue University.

After only shooting 21.7 percent in the first half and committing 12 turnovers, the Redhawks returned to the court with a newfound momentum. Down 48-23, SU found offensive rhythm and slowly chipped away at the Hoya lead entering the second half.

It was truly a tale of two halves for the Redhawks, who shot 60.9 percent in the final half. After seeing the effectiveness of man-to-man defense in the first by Georgetown, Joan Bonvicini's young squad employed it successfully. In the final half, SU forced GU to commit 14 turnovers, which they converted into 17 points.

Senior Ashley Brown headlined the Redhawk effort on the day, scoring a career-high 19 points in a team-leading 35 minutes of action. Brown led the team with six rebounds, five steals and an assist versus the Hoyas.

Game Three Recap - No. 23 Purdue

Nov. 20, 2009 - L 69-38

Behind 26 points from sophomore Brittany Rayburn, No. 23 Purdue University defeated the Seattle University women's basketball team 69-38 in game one of the Basketball Travelers Invitational Classic. The Redhawks stayed neck-and-neck with the Boilermakers for the first 12 minutes of action, but a mid-half offensive breakdown sent PU to their second win of the season. With the loss, SU fell to 0-3 on the season.

Senior Cassidy Murillo led the defense with five rebounds, while Carley Butcher and Tatiana Heck scored team-leading eight points each. Transfer Kourtney Parks made her third start in the lineup and Ashley Brown returned to action with six points, after missing the Nov. 14, game versus Concordia.
