After SeattleU opened a 12-point lead seven minutes into the second half on a three-pointer by Ricky Berry (Phoenix, Ariz.), Weber State went on an 8-2 run over the next two and a half minutes to cut the Redhawk lead in half. Aaron Broussard (Federal Way, Wash.) started the run with a three-pointer, followed by a steal and assist from Mike Boxley (Mountlake Terrace, Wash.) that led to a layup by Cervante Burrell (Sacramento, Calif.) and a three-pointer by Boxley.
Down 84-66 with 6:43 remaining in the second half, Weber State started its own comeback, led by Damian Lillard, who scored nine points over the next three minutes. Kyle Bullinger's three-pointer with 28 seconds left pulled the Wildcats within three, but SeattleU's defense prevented Weber State from scoring any more points, as a three-point attempt by Lillard with eight seconds left was off the mark and the visitors could not get another shot off.
Charles Garcia (Los Angeles, Calif.) earned his second straight double-double, leading all players with 27 points and 11 rebounds. Broussard finished with 17 points, five rebounds, and two steals, and Burrell went 7-for-9 from the field on his way to 15 points, three rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Seniors Boxley and Chris Gweth (Beaverton, Ore.) contributed ten points and four assists each, with Boxley also blocking two shots.
Weber State (0-3) scored the first five points of the game, and then went on a 17-7 run over a five-minute span to go ahead, 22-13, seven minutes into the contest. SeattleU grabbed the momentum with a 14-2 run over a three-minute span, with the first seven points coming from Garcia, followed by a 10-2 run over the last four minutes of the first half to take a 48-41 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Bullinger hit four three-pointers during the game and led the Wildcats with 22 points, with Steve Panos shooting 7-of-11 from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line for 21 points along with a team-high seven rebounds. Lillard finished with 18 points, while Lindsey Hughey came off the bench and contributed 12 points, three rebounds, five assists, and four steals.
Both teams shot well during the afternoon, as Seattle University hit 54.7 percent of its field goal attempts, including 7-of-19 from behind the three-point line, and 77.8 percent from the free throw line. Meanwhile, Weber State, coming into the game with a .315 field goal percentage, made 51.7 percent of its field goal attempts, including 8-of-22 from behind the three-point line, and 85.0 percent from the free throw line.
The victory was Seattle University's 13th straight win at home, now tied for the seventh-longest streak in program history. The last time SeattleU scored at least 80 points in three straight games was during the 2005-06 season, when the team scored that many or more each of the final six games of the season.
