The Seattle University volleyball team stuck with Weber State throughout the match, but the Wildcats earned the points that counted on their way to a 3-0 victory (25-22, 25-18, 26-24) Saturday night at Swenson Gym.

Kaytlyn Dill (Bothell, Wash.) led Seattle University offensively with 13 kills, plus she earned five digs and two block assists, while Cristin Richards (Olympia, Wash.) collected 12 kills, three service aces, six digs, and two block assists. Setter Jamie Mellies (Henderson, Nev.) earned 33 assists, a service ace, and six digs, Kelly Biette (Brighton, Colo.) led the team at the net with four total blocks, and Emily Deleissegues (Aromas, Calif.) paced the squad in the back with 15 defensive digs.

Amy Fackrell started Weber State on an early 4-0 run in the opening set with a kill and a service ace, but SeattleU would come back and take a 10-8 lead on a block by Richards and Jordan Keller (Mukilteo, Wash.). Caitlyn Anderson posted three kills as the Wildcats scored the next four points, starting a seesaw battle. Weber State took the lead for good on consecutive kills by Chelsea Bair and Anderson, and a Redhawk attack error closed out the first set in the Wildcats' favor.

Weber State (5-15) went on a 7-0 run in the second set to open an 11-4 advantage, but the Redhawks responded with five consecutive points of their own to cut the lead to two at 11-9. Anderson started an 11-5 Wildcat run that closed out the second set with a kill and a service ace, and Bethany Wray finished off the second set with a kill to give Weber State a 2-0 match lead.

In the third set, Wray contributed a block assist and a kill to give the home team an 11-7 lead before SeattleU came back to within one at 13-12, thanks in part to an ace and a kill by Richards and a Mellies service ace. Weber State scored four straight points to extend its advantage to five at 17-12, but SeattleU went on a 7-2 run to tie the set at 19-19. With the score tied at 24-24, Wray and Jenna Leggat blocked a Redhawk attack attempt, and the Wildcats ended the night by forcing another SeattleU attack error at match point.

Bair led Weber State with 12 kills, a .476 hitting percentage, and four service aces, while Anderson contributed ten kills, three service aces, and a team-high 11 digs. Jocilyn Taylor and Kim Lissinna each dished out 13 assists, and Wray led all players with six block assists.

Seattle University (5-18) takes a week off from competition before traveling to yet another Big Sky school, as Montana State will serve as the opposition Monday, Oct. 26, beginning at 7 p.m. local time. The Redhawks begin November with a trip to California before returning home for their final match of the season against Saint Martin's Tuesday, Nov. 10, starting at 7 p.m. at the Connolly Center.
