This Week For The Redhawks: The Seattle University women's soccer team will travel to California for the third time this season. The Redhawks will kick off their weekend in the Golden State with a 7 p.m. contest at Cal State Bakersfield (4-8-2) on Friday, Oct. 16. Following their matchup with the Roadrunners, SU will head to the coast to square off with UC Santa Barbara (6-7-1) on Sunday, Oct. 18. The game is slated for noon against the Gauchos.

Last Time Out: The Redhawks closed out the home-half of the 2009 schedule on Sunday, Oct. 11. After a tough and back-and-fourth contest, Seattle fell on the short end of the score to Washington State, 3-2.

WSU got on the board first, only for sophomore Jordan Salisbury to score the equalizing the goal less than 15 minutes later. The central defender received a corner kick from Kassandra Riozzi and headed it in over the Cougars Meghan Berlingo.

The Pac-10 team found the back of the net for the second and third time less than two minutes apart in the second half. Down by two goals, top scorer Kara Kuttler took the ball from the midfield and weaved through the Washington State defense. Kuttler then shot the ball into the upper left corner to score her seventh goal of the season.

On Deck: SeattleU closes out the season with a fourth and final trip to California. They will play Pepperdine on Thursday, Oct. 29, at 3 p.m. in Malibu. The Redhawks conclude the 2009 campaign on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the University of San Diego in a 1 p.m. match in San Diego.

Scouting CS Bakersfield: The Roadrunners of Cal State Bakersfield (4-8-2) return home after going winless in their last four contests on the road. They fell in two games and took double overtime draws in the remaining two. CSUB has dropped five of their last seven matches this season.

The Roadrunners head into Friday's action behind leading scorer Sam Pena. Pena has three goals on the season in 14 games. Between the posts, Kym Gause posts a 1.43 goals against average, 80 saves and four shutouts. The Bakersfield 'keeper is 4-7-0 on the season and has allowed 20 goals this season.

Scouting UC Santa Barbara: UC Santa Barbara hosts Seattle after posting three straight victories, including a 2-1 double overtime win on Oct. 11, versus UC Riverside. The Gauchos, 6-7-1 overall, 3-1-1 BWC, will take on Long Beach State on Thursday, Oct. 15, prior to hosting the Redhawks.

Going into this week's competition, UCSB is led by Kailyn Kuger, who was named Big West Player of the Week after scoring back-to-back game-winning goals this past weekend.

Redhawks Close Out Home Schedule: The Redhawks closed out the home-half of the 2009 schedule with a 4-2 overall record. They played their final game at Championship Field versus Washington State on Oct. 11. Seattle outscored opponents 9 goals to 5 at home this year.

Kuttler Continues to Lead Offense: Junior Kara Kuttler continues to lead the SeattleU offense going into the final leg of the 2009 season. The Redhawk forward scored her seventh goal of the season on Oct. 11, versus Washington State. She has one game-winning goal on the season and one of her three assists this year was a game-winner.

Hittin' the Road: SU will close out the season in California. They will play a pair of games this weekend and conclude the season with a final set of games a week-and-a-half later in Southern California.

Salisbury Heads It In: Central defender Jordan Salisbury scored her first goal of the season and of her career versus Washington State on Oct. 11. The Redhawk sophomore headed in the ball after receiving a Kassandra Riozzi corner kick.

Looking for Success in the Golden State: The Redhawks have faced top-notch competition in 2009. SU will look for their first road win this weekend in California. Eight of their nine losses this season have been by only one goal.
