After losing to Idaho, 7-0, in the morning, the Seattle University men’s tennis team picked up a couple of victories in the afternoon, but they were not enough as Lewis-Clark State College earned its second victory of the season over the Redhawks with a 5-2 decision Saturday on the University of Idaho campus.
In a rematch of the February 28 contest in Bozeman, Mont., Mark Shkretbtan (Redmond, Wash.) turned the tables on Cedric Dufour, defeating Lewis-Clark State’s number one player in straight set (6-1, 6-3). SeattleU’s other victory came from the number five position, as Adam Strizich (Helena, Mont.) defeated Sebastian Kuhn, also in straight sets (6-2, 6-2).
Seattle University also had a chance to win the doubles point thanks to two close matches, but Strizich and Patrick Boorkman (Bellevue, Wash.) fell to Richard Muszynski and Jonatan Berhane, 9-7, and Shkretbtan and Dylan Reetz (Rockwall, Texas) lost to Kuhn and Tyler Oram, 8-6.
Seattle University (4-10) will conclude the 2008-09 season by facing Eastern Washington Sunday here in a neutral site match beginning at 10:30 a.m. SeattleU began the spring season by hosting Eastern Washington, with the Eagles earning a 7-0 victory on January 10.
