The Seattle University golf teams concluded the 2008-09 season, the first in the reestablishment of the golf program, by hosting Saint Martin’s University, University of Victoria, and Northwest Christian University in a 36-hole event Friday and Saturday, April 10 and 11, at the Fort Lewis Golf Club.

It was a dual match on the women’s side, as Saint Martin’s defeated Seattle University (619-674). SeattleU was led by Kelsey Johnson (Pasco, Wash.), who finished third after shooting rounds of 76 and 82 for a two-day total of 158. Caitlin McCleary (The Dalles, Ore.) shot rounds of 84 and 86 to finish at 170, while Dianne Alcantara (Hillsboro, Ore.) and Michelle Grome (Edmonds, Wash.) each finished the two days with a score of 173 and Kaitlin Soto also competed over the weekend.

The University of Victoria won the men’s competition with a two-day score of 571, followed by Northwest Christian University (614), Saint Martin’s (616), and Seattle University (673). Justin Goar (Montesano, Wash.) was the top Redhawk golfer, finishing tenth after shooting 76 and 77 for a 153 over the two days. Travis Michael (Phoenix, Ariz.) followed an 85 with a 78 for a two-day total of 163, while Kevin Ormiston (Snoqualmie, Wash.) posted scores of 85 and 80 to finish with 165. Kyle Finnegan (University Place, Wash.) and Alex Schultz (Missoula, Mont.) also competed over the past two days for Seattle University.
