The 2008-09 season for the Seattle University swim team came to an end Saturday night as the squad's top swimmers concluded their participation in the USA Swimming Austin Grand Prix at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.

Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.) broke the school record in the 100 yard freestyle by just 8/100ths of a second, finishing 48th in the morning preliminaries with a time of 52.88 seconds. In the evening finals, Cobb finished 38th in the 100 meter freestyle in 1:00.31. Doug Djang (Seattle, Wash.) competed in the men's 100 yard freestyle in the morning, finishing 43rd in the preliminaries with a time of 46.03 seconds.

In the 200 yard breaststroke, Bryson Chiu (Carmel, Ind.) advanced to the finals with a 19th-place finish in the preliminaries in 2:03.82. Chiu then earned a 14th place finish overall with a time of 2:27.51 in the evening finals of the 200 meter breaststroke.

Cobb and Chiu are slated to return to next year's squad along with an experienced group of swimmers ready to continue the improvement of the SeattleU swim program within both the Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference and NCAA Division I. This was Djang's last collegiate competition of his career, as he leaves the swim team with numerous accolades and records.
