Mark Shkretbtan (Redmond, Wash.) won the first singles match of the day, but it wasn’t enough as the Air Force Academy won five straight, in addition to the doubles point, to defeat the Redhawk 6-1 at the Sammamish Club Saturday morning.
Shkretbtan made quick work of the Falcons’ Austin Francis in the number one spot, winning the match in straight-sets (6-0, 6-2). In the number two spot, Alex Montgomery (Seattle, Wash.) was unable to overcome Cody Hall, losing in straight-sets (6-0, 6-1). The number three spot saw Brett Rodgers defeat Patrick Boorkman (Bellevue, Wash.) in straight-sets (6-2, 6-2).
In the four, five, and six spots, Dylan Reetz (Rockwell, Texas) was defeated by Taylor Soster (6-0, 6-2), Adam Strizich (Helena, Mont.) fell to Johnny Buckingham (6-0, 6-1), while Matt Enkema (Bellevue, Wash.) was defeated by Will Brown (6-1, 6-0).
In doubles action, Montgomery and Shkretbtan fell in the number one spot to Francis and Hall 8-5, while Boorkman and Strizich were defeated by Rodgers and Soster 8-2 in the number two spot. In the third slot it was Enkema and Reetz falling to Buckingham and Brown 8-6
The SU men will be out of action until Saturday April 4th when they play host to Pacific Lutheran at the Seattle University Tennis Courts. The match is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
