The women’s basketball team committed only nine turnovers while forcing Montana Tech into 27 turnovers, leading to 24 SeattleU points as the home team cruised to a 67-43 victory over the Orediggers Tuesday night at the .
Breanna Salley () overcame a slow start, scoring 13 of her game-high 16 points in the second half, plus she pulled down four rebounds and earned two steals. Cassidy Murillo () hit five three-pointers and finished the game with 15 points, four rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Chelsie Morrison () contributed ten points, five rebounds, seven assists, and two steals in the contest.
Seattle University went on a 17-7 run midway through the first half to open a 30-18 lead late in the first half, and then finished the game by outscoring Montana Tech, 24-7, over the last 10:32 of the second half to extend a seven-point game to the eventual final margin. Among Montana Tech’s 27 turnovers were four shot clock violations as the Orediggers continually had problems finding open looks against SeattleU’s tough defense.
Montana Tech (3-6) was led by Jessie DePell, who scored 15 points, while Jenessa Todd finished with eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds. The Orediggers shot 36.6 percent from the field and 75 percent from the free throw line and won the rebounding battle, 38-34, but the turnovers are what eventually doomed the visitors.
