The women’s basketball team picked up 18 steals and shot the ball better than in the first exhibition game as it defeated Pacific University, 79-68, in the second and final exhibition contest of the season Saturday evening at the .

Chelsie Morrison (, ) led with 21 points, eight rebounds, two blocked shots, and five steals. Carley Butcher (Pitt Meadows, B.C.) scored 12 points, and Bianca Williams () contributed ten points, four rebounds, and three steals. Guards Jamie Johnson (, ) and Elle Kerfoot (, B.C.) each scored eight points, combining to shoot 7-of-9 from the field.

Pacific held the lead in the first half until Mercedes Alexander (, ) hit a layup with seven minutes left before halftime to give a 21-20 lead. For the most part, the Boxers kept it close until the Redhawks went on an 18-4 run midway through the second half to open a 69-55 advantage.

Rochelle Reeves led the Boxers with 15 points and four assists, while Mallory Goldammer hit four three-pointers on her way to a 14-point effort. Brittney Anderson pulled down a game-high nine rebounds, but Pacific lost the battle of the boards to , 44-34. The Boxers forced the Redhawks into 27 turnovers, but they also turned the ball over 27 times.

opens the regular season Friday, Nov. 14, against , the defending Western Athletic Conference champion, in , beginning at 6 p.m. local time. Although the home opener isn’t until Tuesday, Dec. 2, against Seattle Pacific, local fans will have two chances to see the Redhawks on Thanksgiving weekend, as they participate in the Husky Classic at Bank of America Arena on Nov. 28 and 30.
