Less than 24 hours after facing the University of Idaho, the Seattle University women’s swim team took on Washington State and hung with the Cougars, whose depth led to a 153-50 victory Saturday morning at the Douglas Gibb Pool.

Alexis Morehouse (Vancouver, Wash.) came the closest to victory during the meet, coming back from a deficit of over a second to come within 7/100ths of Shawna Keller in the 200 breaststroke, finishing the race in 2:23.54. Morehouse also swam the second leg of the 200 medley relay, combining with Tina Nguyen (Hillsboro, Ore.), Hayley Cobb (Irvine, Calif.), and Elizabeth Hanohano (Honolulu, Hawaii) to post a time of 1:52.79.

Cobb finished second in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:11.70, while Hanohano earned a second-place finish in the 200 butterfly in 2:15.74 and Connie Rae Shobaken (Tualatin, Ore.) finished right behind her in 2:15.88. Sarena Hobson (Las Vegas, Nev.) finished third in both the 1000 freestyle (11:07.56) and the 200 backstroke (2:18.74), and Casey Hoffman (Burien, Wash.) posted third-place finishes in the 200 freestyle (2:01.67) and the 500 freestyle (5:25.20).

The Seattle University swim teams will next compete at the Husky Invitational hosted by the University of Washington in Federal Way, Wash., on Dec. 4-6.
