The Seattle University volleyball team looked refreshed after a 12-day layoff, posting a season-best .359 hitting percentage and also collecting 11 service aces in defeating Concordia University of Oregon, 3-0 (25-11, 25-18, 25-10), Friday night at the Connolly Center.
Kaytlyn Dill () led the way with 14 kills and only one attack error in 22 attempts for a .591 hitting percentage, the third-highest single-match percentage in school history. Libby Graff (, ) earned seven kills in 13 attempts with no errors for a .538 hitting percentage, and Cristin Richards () collected ten kills to go along with a match-high three service aces and seven digs.
Jamie Mellies () ran a varied offense throughout the night, finishing with 38 assists, six digs, and two block assists. Janet Beckerman (, ) finished with six kills and Raissa Licano-Sanchez (), filling in for an injured Emily Powell, earned four kills, two service aces, and four blocks in the match. With starting libero Emily Deleissegues also on the bench with an injury, Shelly Anderson () took her place and contributed 13 digs and two aces to the winning cause.
(10-10) was led by Lindsey Fryer with eight kills and two block assists. Setter Skyler Kamaka also had two total blocks to go with 16 assists, while libero Kim Lindow led the team in the back with ten defensive digs.
(4-13) hosts the Dig For The Cure Classic this weekend, welcoming in three other schools at the same point in the transition to Division I. The tournament begins Saturday at 10 a.m. with (13-9) facing the of (18-2), with the Redhawks going against the (15-1) at 12 noon.
