Despite less than desirable conditions, several members of the track and field team competed at the Friday evening at Husky Stadium.
Rachael Johnson (, ) finished fourth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:21.91, while Rachel Purcell () earned a fifth place finish in the 400 meter run in 1:00.74. Purcell and Johnson bookended Courtney Cabebe (, ) and Erin Moon () in the 4x400 meter relay, posting a time of 4:13.64. Purcell, Cabebe, and Moon were joined by Elizabeth Wolf () in the 4x100 meter relay, finishing in 52.84 seconds.
Lindsay Currier () finished fifth in the shot put with a top throw of 10.84 meters and eighth in the discus throw by tossing the discus 36.97 meters. Hali Bellisario (Newberry, Ore.) finished seventh in the javelin throw with a top attempt of 37.00 meters, while Mara Becker (Fairbanks, Alaska) cleared 1.48 meters for a seventh place finish in the high jump and Cabebe cleared a height of 3.20 meters for an 11th place finish in the pole vault.
On the men’s side, Christopher Fussell (, ) finished fourth in the 200 meter dash with a time of 23.09 seconds, while Daniel Sullivan () finished second in the 400 meter hurdles in 56.14 seconds. Fussell and Sullivan, along with Loyal Allen, Jr. (Seattle, Wash.), and Jude Anthony Martinez (Hagatna, Guam), finished second in the 4x100 meter relay in 43.53 seconds and fifth in the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 3:36.24.
Udoka Odoemene () finished seventh in the long jump with a top leap of 5.84 meters. Robert Poshusta (, ) finished fourth in the 110 meter hurdles with a time of 17.93 seconds, while Graham Miller () earned an 11th place finish in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:02.52.
The track and field team will head to , for the second time this season, this time to participate in the Shotwell Invitational hosted by the University of Puget Sound at Baker Stadium next Saturday, April 5, beginning at 10 a.m.
