The 11th-ranked softball team earned 20 hits, while the pitchers held Montana State Billings scoreless for all but one inning as SeattleU swept the GNAC doubleheader, 10-2 and 5-0, Saturday afternoon at Logan Field.

jumped on top in the second inning of the first game, as the Redhawks loaded the bases with no one out. After two outs, Cassie Cueto (, ) sent a single through the left side that scored Lauren Berin (Lacey, ) and Jaime Foote (, ). Katie Antich (, ) followed with a single that plated Jessica Amador () to give SeattleU a 3-0 lead.

After Montana State Billings scored twice in the top of the third inning, the Redhawks broke the game open with six runs in the bottom of the third. Heather Hansen (, ) singled to left field to score Megan MacIsaac () and Berin, with Foote scoring after the left fielder’s throw home got away from the catcher. Hansen scored on a single by Amador, who was able to reach second on a Cueto grounder when the shortstop committed an error. After Antich singled to load the bases, Katie Petersen () singled to score Amador, and MacIsaac drove in Cueto on a sacrifice fly.

Back-to-back doubles by Hansen and Amador in the fourth inning gave SeattleU the run it needed to invoke the eight-run mercy rule. Erin Martin () earned her seventh victory without a loss, giving up seven hits and two runs while striking out seven Yellowjacket batters.

The Redhawks jumped out quickly again in the second game, as in the first inning Petersen and MacIsaac singled, followed by a double by Berin that drove in Petersen. Kaha Weir () sent a fly ball to left field that scored MacIsaac. Two errors and a wild pitch by Montana State Billings (6-12, 0-4 GNAC) allowed SeattleU to score three runs in the fourth inning.

Kelsey Reynolds () continued her solid pitching, notching her fifth shutout of the season while improving her record to 7-1 and lowering her ERA to 0.80. Reynolds gave up only four hits and a walk in the game.

Seattle University (14-1, 2-0 GNAC) finishes the three-game series against Montana State Billings with a single game Sunday, March 9, beginning at 11 a.m. at Logan Field. After that, the team will not have another home game until April 6.
