Quinn Brewe (, ) led all players with 17 points and Laina Sobczak ( Place, ) earned a double-double with 10 points and 15 rebounds as the women’s basketball team snapped its four-game losing streak with a 45-43 victory over Western Oregon Saturday night in GNAC action at the .

Seattle University took a 19-9 lead with seven minutes remaining in the first half, but Western Oregon scored ten unanswered points to tie the game. Taryn Kellogg () scored five points in a 7-0 run near the end of the half as the Redhawks enjoyed a 28-23 halftime advantage.

Western Oregon (5-13, 1-8 GNAC) went on a 9-0 run early in the second half to go up by six points, 36-30, before SeattleU answered with its own 7-0 run, capped off by a three-pointer from Chelsie Morrison (Portland, Ore.). After Leada Berkey hit two free throws to allow the Wolves to retake the lead, Sobczak pulled down an offensive rebound and converted on a layup to give the Redhawks the lead for good.

Brewe shot 6-of-11 from the field and 4-for-4 from the free throw line for her 17 points, plus she grabbed seven rebounds and earned two steals and a blocked shot. Six of Sobczak’s 15 rebounds came on the offensive end of the floor as she helped SeattleU gain a 42-33 rebounding edge. was able to pull out the victory despite committing 29 turnovers and shooting only 34 percent (16-of-47) from the field.

Katie Torland led with 14 points, plus she had seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Berkey, the Wolves’ leading player, finished with ten points and eight rebounds, but she shot only 3-of-18 from the field and committed eight turnovers. was held to 25.5 percent (14-of-55) field goal shooting, including 4-of-20 from the three-point line.

(13-5, 4-5 GNAC) begins the second half of the conference season with three road games, starting Thursday, Feb. 7, at Central Washington beginning at 7 p.m. The Redhawks defeated the Wildcats earlier this season in , 54-51.
