The 18th-ranked softball team earned 12 extra-base hits and continued to receive solid pitching performances as it defeated , 10-3, and , 5-0, Saturday in the Mizuno Best of the West Invitational at .

For the third consecutive game, Seattle University jumped on the board first against CSU Monterey Bay, as Katie Petersen (Mission Viejo, Calif.) singled, stole second base, and scored on a double by Jane Purdy (Missoula, Mont.). Heather Hansen (Redmond, Wash.) followed with her own double down the left field line that scored Purdy and Megan MacIsaac (Santa Barbara, Calif.) to give the Redhawks a 3-0 lead.

After the Otters scored a run in the bottom of the first, added to its lead, as MacIsaac drew a bases-loaded walk in the second inning, and Sandra Hernandez (, ) tripled and scored on a Jessica Amador () single in the third inning. The Redhawks broke the game open in the fifth inning, again loading the bases before Lauren Berin (Lacey, Wash.) walked to force in Hernandez. MacIsaac drove in two more runs with a double to left field to make the score 8-1.

Seattle scored two more runs in the top of the seventh, as Cassie Cueto (Benton City, Wash.) doubled and scored on a single by Petersen, who also scored thanks to a triple by MacIsaac. For the second consecutive day, pitcher Erin Martin (, ) let up runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, but she held to eight hits and three runs to earn her second victory in as many games.

Against , a Division II school in , scored in the second inning when Brenda Stice (, ) doubled and scored on Kaha Weir’s () single. In the fourth inning, Cueto doubled and scored on Katie Antich’s () triple. MacIsaac followed with a double to score Antich. After MacIsaac scored on an error, Hernandez doubled to plate Berin for the fourth and final run of the inning.

Kelsey Reynolds () pitched a complete game shutout for the second straight day, giving up five hits and a walk while striking out six batters. Reynolds was helped by Weir, who caught two Davis & Elkins runners attempting to steal second base.

For the day, MacIsaac went 4-for-7 with two doubles, a triple, and five runs batted in, while Hernandez also went 4-for-7 with a double, a triple, two runs scored, and a run batted in. Amador and Petersen also had two hits each in the first game, while Purdy earned two hits in the second game.

(4-0) will conclude play in the Best of the West Invitational Sunday, facing Grand Canyon at 10 a.m. and #6 at 12:30 p.m.
