With a 10-1 start and dominating play on both the offensive and defensive ends of the floor, the women’s basketball team finds itself in the top ten of six team and one individual statistical category and in the top 20 of three other team categories.
is second, behind only GNAC rival Alaska Anchorage, in scoring margin, averaging 29.7 points per game more than its opponents. SeattleU is also second in field goal percentage, hitting 49.6 percent of its field goal attempts, behind Minnesota State Mankato, who has converted on 50.1 percent of its field goal attempts.
The team is presently third in rebounding margin, averaging 13.9 rebounds per game more than its opponents. By giving up only 49.3 points per game, SeattleU is fifth in scoring defense. The team is also seventh in field goal percentage defense, as opponents are shooting only 32.4 percent from the field against the Redhawks.
Led by two individuals in the top 20, is sixth in Division II in three-point field goal percentage, hitting 41.9 percent of its shots from behind the three-point arc. Junior Chelsie Morrison (, ) is second in the nation in individual three-point field goal percentage, hitting 53.5 percent of her long distance attempts, while sophomore Cassidy Murillo () is 16th in the country with a 46.8 percent three-point field goal success rate.
With five players in the top 500 for three-point field goals per game, is 12th in the country as a team with 8.0 three-point field goals per game. The team is also 15th in Division II in scoring offense with 79.0 points per game, and 17th in won-lost percentage (.909).
The women’s basketball team starts a three-game homestand Thursday, Jan. 10, against Western Washington at the beginning at 5:30 p.m.
