All five starters score in double figures for the Redhawks

The Seattle University Women’s Basketball team improved to 8-0 by winning at BYU Hawaii, 100-42 Wednesday night. The Redhawks got at least two points from 14 players on their way to the route.

Seattle was led in scoring by Chelsie Morrison (Portland, Ore.) who had 15 points on a perfect 5-5 from the field, which included 3-3 from downtown. Jackie Thomas (Tacoma, Wash.) chipped in 13 points, seven assists, and four steals.

After trailing 4-2, Seattle went on a 25-0 run to take charge of the contest early in the first half. Seattle went on to shoot 57.1 percent (16-28) in the first half compared to 27.3 percent (6-22) for the Seasiders and took a 43-16 lead to the break.

The second half was more of the same as Seattle continued to extend its lead even as they played all 15 players dressed for the game. Seattle shot 71.4 percent (20-28) in the second half to total 64.3 percent (36-56) for the game. Seattle also connected on 52.6 percent (10-19) from 3-point range.

Other Seattle players in double figure were Laina Sobczak (University Place, Wash.) with 12 points and Cassidy Murillo (Yakima, Wash.) and Quinn Brewe (Edmonds, Wash.) with 10 points apiece.

BYU Hawaii was led by Richelle Fenenbock with 11 points. The Seasiders turned the ball over 32 times and shot 23.9 (11-46) percent for the game.

Seattle will conclude it two game trip to Hawaii, Thursday, December 20 when they travel to Honolulu to face Hawaii Pacific at 2 p.m. HT (4 p.m. PT). The game will conclude the non-conference schedule for Seattle. Seattle opens the conference season when it travels to Alaska to a two game trip versus Alaska Fairbanks on Thursday, January 3 and at Alaska Anchorage on Saturday, January 5.
