Seniors Dustin Allbery (, ), Jason Cascio (, ), and John Fishbaugher () have earned spots on the Daktronics All-Far West Region First Team, announced Wednesday morning after a vote of the region’s sports information directors.
Allbery, named Second Team All-GNAC earlier this week, once again leads the team with seven assists and has accumulated 15 assists over the past two seasons, eighth on ’s all-time assists list. He scored two goals against the of on Oct. 5, and his two assists in ’s 2-1 victory over Seattle Pacific on Oct. 13 earned him GNAC Player of the Week recognition.
After a slow start, Cascio exploded for eight goals in the past five matches, including the game-winning goal against Seattle Pacific. He also scored the game-winning goals to end the overtime matches against Montana State Billings and Incarnate Word. Cascio, a unanimous First Team All-GNAC selection, finished the regular season with 13 goals, three assists, and 29 total points and has moved into fifth place on ’s all-time goals list with 31 career goals, just one behind present assistant coach Alex Chursky.
Fishbaugher adds this honor to earlier being named First Team All-GNAC, Academic All-GNAC, and CoSIDA First Team Academic All-District. He has contributed four goals and four assists this season, including ’s first goal of the season for the second straight year. Fishbaugher scored the game-winning goal in the 1-0 victory at and assisted on game-winning goals against Notre Dame de Namur and Incarnate Word.
, 15-2-1 in the regular season including a 6-1-1 GNAC record that led to its sixth conference title in seven seasons, heads to , , for the regional of the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Tournament, hosted by Cal State Dominguez Hills. The second seeded Redhawks will face third seed Friday, Nov. 9, at 4 p.m. at Toro Stadium, with live stats for the match available at www.GoToros.com.
