The women’s basketball team forced 36 turnovers and held BYU Hawaii to seven first-half points in cruising to an 82-29 victory Saturday afternoon in the team’s home opener at the .

After BYU Hawaii scored the first point of the game, scored the next 21 points over a six-minute span, then went on another 29-0 run over a ten-minute span to open a 50-3 lead. After shooting 65.5 percent from the field in the first half, cooled off, shooting only 44.4 percent in the second half. Meanwhile, the Seasiders improved from a .077 field goal shooting percentage before halftime to a .348 field goal shooting percentage in the second half.

Chelsie Morrison (, ) led with 17 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field, including the three shots from behind the three-point line she attempted. Laina Sobczak ( Place, ) was a perfect 3-of-3 from the field and also shot 8-of-9 from the free throw line to score 14 points, while Cassidy Murillo (, ) contributed nine points, five assists, and five steals and Kamrica Ary-Turner () scored eight points in the game.

Richelle Fenenbock hit three shots from behind the three-point line in the second half to lead the Seasiders with nine points. Amanda Watts earned eight points and five rebounds, and Sara Nielson tied ’s Whitney Honn () for the game high with six steals each.
