The men swim to big victory, while the women are edged by Whitworth

The swim teams split a dual meet with on Saturday afternoon at the . The men topped Whitworth by a score of 170-92, while the women were defeated by the Pirates, 134-128.

The men got three race wins from Gordon Smith () who won the 100 freestyle in 48.18, the 200 freestyle in 1:43.43, and 500 freestyle in 4:42.86. Smith’s time in the 200 freestyle lowered his season best that had already achieved a national B standard.

Also with multiple race wins for was Bryson Chiu () who won the 100 yard backstroke in a time of 54.90 and the 200 individual medley with a time of 1:57.39. He also finished second to his teammate, Michael Wheeler () in the 200 yard backstroke with a time of 2:03.21. Wheeler’s first place time was 2:01.55.

Doug Djang (, ) was the third swimmer with multiple race wins for . He took the 100 breaststroke in 58.75 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:09.84. The swim in the 100 breaststroke was a national B qualifying standard for Djang.

Also setting a national B standard for the men was Chris Coley () who achieved the standard by swimming a time of 50.94 in winning the 100 butterfly.

On the women’s side, was led by Alex Weiss () who won both the 200 backstroke in a time of 2:11.55 and the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:16.36. She also finished second in the 200 butterfly, but swam a national B standard qualifying time of 2:11.21.

The other multiple event winner for was Carole Triem () who won the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:10.67 and the 200 yard breaststroke in a time of 2:32.94.

Also winning an event for was Francesca Reale () who won the 100 backstroke in a time of 1:00.51.
