The tenth-ranked women’s soccer team could not contain second-ranked Seattle Pacific, as the Falcons took advantage of two open opportunities to defeat the Redhawks, 2-0, Wednesday night at Interbay Stadium.

Seattle Pacific (18-0, 12-0 GNAC) jumped on the board first as Seattle goalie Kaitlyn Jackson (Kent, Wash.) took down Jocelyn Charrette in the box midway through the first half. Kara Hamby converted the penalty kick to give the Falcons a 1-0 in the 24th minute.

The Falcons increased their lead early in the second half as Meredith Teague sent a free kick into the box. Among the mass of bodies in front of the net, Becca Woods was able to send a header from six yards out into the goal to give Seattle Pacific a 2-0 lead.

had its first good scoring chance 15 minutes into the second half, as a throw-in by Sarah Dean (, ) was headed by Leah Wymer (, ) to Jasmine Wilson (, ), but ’s header was knocked away by Falcon goalie Jesslyn Rahm. A minute later, a corner kick by Ashley Porter () found Wymer in the box, but the senior’s header went wide.

Thanks to a 7-2 shot advantage in the second half, outshot Seattle Pacific, 10-9, but Rahm finished with four saves in picking up the shutout. Wymer led with four shots, while two of Maryann Boddy’s () three shots were on goal. Jackson earned two saves during the match.

Seattle University (15-3, 10-2 GNAC) returns home for the final two matches of the season, starting Saturday, Oct. 27, against Northwest Nazarene beginning at noon at Championship Field. The Redhawks will host Montana State Billings in the regular season finale Saturday, Nov. 3, at 1 p.m., also at Championship Field.
