Several Redhawks post season best times against Division I foe

Seattle Women’s Swimming suffered a tough defeat to Loyola Marymount, Thursday afternoon at the . The Lions beat the Redhawks 122-83 in the dual meet.

Of the 11 events on Thursday, took three first places. First, Christina Hunsberger won the 1000 freestyle and in the process set a NCAA B qualifying standard with a time of 10:47.97. Also in the event, Anna Vanha took third in 10:57.35 and Alison Colnon finished fourth in 11:07.31.

In the 100 butterfly Alex Weiss continued her strong season by finishing first in 1:00.22.  She edged Trinity O’Neill of LMU by just 13 hundredths of a second.

The final event winner was Francesca Reale who touched the wall first in the 100 backstroke. Her time of 1:02.57 edged her teammate Carole Triem who finished second in 1:02.98.

Loyola Marymount won the remaining eight events, including the two relays. In the final event, the 400 Freestyle Relay, LMU just edged with a strong swim from their anchor Alicia Witter. The team of Reale, Kelsey Henan, Hunsberger, and Megan Lavin took second in 3:44.69, just off the pace of LMU who finished in 3:42.91.

and Hunsberger also had strong swims in the 500 freestyle finishing second and third with times of 5:18.02 and 5:24.50, respectively. Alex Weiss also finished fourth in the event in a time of 5:29.14 to complete ’s strong showing in the distance events.
