With two assists in Saturday’s 2-1 victory over crosstown rival Seattle Pacific, senior Dustin Allbery () has been named the GNAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week, announced Monday morning by the conference office.

Allbery helped jump into the lead early in the match, as he sprinted to the endline with the ball and slipped a quick pass into the box. Jason Cascio () received the ball, made a quick turn, and deposited the shot into the net to give the Redhawks a 1-0 lead five minutes into the match.

After Seattle Pacific had tied the contest, Allbery again contributed to taking the lead, as he carried the ball from his defensive position, split two defenders, and dribbled all the way into the box. Allbery’s shot was blocked by the SPU goalie, but Cascio collected the rebound and converted on his shot with 8:37 remaining in regulation. Because he took the initial shot, Allbery was credited with his second assist of the match.

Allbery is now the GNAC leader in assists with seven this season and, in just two seasons, has moved to eighth on the all-time assists list and ninth all-time on the GNAC career assists list with 15 helpers. Cascio, now the team leader with seven goals, received honorable mention notice in this week’s GNAC update.

(12-2, 4-1 GNAC) will take the next week to rest and prepare for the final stretch, which begins Sunday, Oct. 21, at Saint Martin’s in a match that begins at 12 noon. The next home match for the Redhawks is Thursday, Oct. 25, against beginning at 2:30 p.m. at Championship Field.
