TURLOCK, Calif.- The sixth-ranked Seattle University men's soccer team earned its third consecutive road win to begin the season as the Redhawks held on for a 2-1 victory over Cal State Stanislaus Wednesday afternoon at Warrior Soccer Field.

Cascio and Kreiter tally goals to lead Redhawks to victory

TURLOCK, Calif.- The sixth-ranked Seattle University men’s soccer team earned its third consecutive road win to begin the season as the Redhawks held on for a 2-1 victory over Cal State Stanislaus Wednesday afternoon at Warrior Soccer Field.

Jason Cascio (), the 2006 GNAC player of the year, opened the scoring with a goal in the 35th minute to give the Redhawks the early advantage. The goal was the second of the season for Cascio, who totaled 16 last season. Andrew Kreiter () earned the assist after sending the cross to Cascio.

held the 1-0 lead heading into halftime as Jordan Jennings () made three saves in the first half in his first start of the season. 

would add to their lead in the 66th minute when Dustin Allbery () found Kreiter at the top of the box. Kreiter fired a bullet into the back of the net to give a 2-0 lead. The goal was the first of the season for Kreiter, while Allbery totaled his third assist. 

Cal State Stanislaus fought back in the final minutes, pulling within one when Kyle Lindquist finally beat to make the score 2-1. Despite efforts from Stanislaus, the Redhawks defense would not allow a tying goal and held on for the victory.

moves to 3-0 in the midst of a five-game road trip.  Next, they travel south to face Cal State Dominguez Hills Sunday, Sept. 1, at 6 p.m. The match will be a rematch of the first round game of last year’s NCAA Tournament when the Redhawks upset Dominguez Hills to advance. The Redhawks don’t return home until Sunday, Sept. 9, when they host Notre Dame de Namur at Championship Field beginning at 2:30 p.m.
