Behind two goals by Leah Wymer and three assists from Ashley Porter, the 17th-ranked Seattle University women's soccer team used three first half goals to cruise to a 4-0 victory over Sonoma State Saturday afternoon at the Seawolf Soccer Classic.

Behind two goals by Leah Wymer (, ) and three assists from Ashley Porter (), the 17th-ranked Seattle University women’s soccer team used three first half goals to cruise to a 4-0 victory over Sonoma State Saturday afternoon at the Seawolf Soccer Classic.

With 16 minutes gone from the first half, Porter sent an entry pass into the box that deflected off Madison Collins (, ) and found the foot of Kahlyn Keilty-Lucas (). Keilty-Lucas sent a shot past goalie Courtney Grixti for her second goal in as many matches.

In the 25th minute, Kate Edstrom (Portland, Ore.) sent a long ball towards Wymer. Wymer corralled the ball, eluded the defense, and beat Grixti with a shot to the lower right corner of the net for her first goal of the match. Porter and Wymer connected to set up ’s third goal in the 34th minute as the two seniors found Jasmine Wilson (, ) in front of the net, and converted for her first goal of the season.

After a long halftime talk by coach Luke Oberkirch, the Seawolves increased the pressure in the second half, outshooting the Redhawks 9-4 after halftime. goalie Kaitlyn Jackson (Kent, Wash.) was up to the task, making five saves in picking up her second shutout of the season.

scored again in the 66th minute, as Sarah Dean () crossed the ball to Porter, who in turn sent the ball into the box. Wymer collected the pass and earned her third goal of the season, giving Porter five assists so far in the young season. After the goal Grixti, who made one save in the match, was replaced by Vanessa Merced, who kept off the board the rest of the way while making a save of her own.

(2-0) heads to , , for a matchup against Tuesday, August 28, at 7 p.m. The Redhawks return to for the home opener Thursday, August 30, against Stanislaus at 4 p.m. at Championship Field.
