As always, Seattle University students receive free admission to bleacher (general admission) seating. This weekend, any family members that students bring to either game also receive free admission. The Piecora's Table will be filled with pizzas before both games. Thanks to ASSU, headbands will be given out to Seattle University students while supplies last. Before the women's basketball game on March 3, the Wing Dome room will be open once again for students to enjoy free wings and soft drinks.
Thursday night, the Seattle University men's basketball team hosts in-state rival Central Washington at the Connolly Center beginning at 7 p.m. This is a key game for the conference standings, as the winner of Thursday's contest will have the inside track for the GNAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Thursday is also Senior Night, as Sam Kirby, Ryan Webb, and David White will be recognized before the game for their contributions to the Seattle University men's basketball program. The first meeting between these two teams went into overtime, and with so much on the line, this game is expected to be extremely competitive.
Saturday night, the Seattle University women's basketball team finishes the regular season by hosting crosstown rival Seattle Pacific, also at 7 p.m. at the Connolly Center. Thanks to last Thursday's victory over Western Washington, the team is still in contention for a postseason bid, but it will need a victory over the Falcons to enhance its chances. Also, it will be the final home game in the collegiate careers of seniors Ashley Brown, Danica Dougherty, Carly Fromdahl, Laura Jones, and Ashley Payne, and there will be a ceremony before the game thanking them for their contributions to the women's basketball program. Seattle University hung with Seattle Pacific in the first meeting and is hoping to use its home court advantage to defeat the Falcons this time.
Both basketball teams are completing historic seasons, and this weekend is your final chance to witness part of that history. GO REDHAWKS!
