SU Cheer Wins Area Competion

The Seattle University Cheer Squad recently won an area competition and will now compete nationally in an online vote at MTV.com.

The cheer squad attended the FIRED UP Cheerleading Challenge hosted by SONY Pictures and KUBE 93 FM, last Saturday afternoon. The local competition was for all cheer teams in Seattle and the surrounding areas, it was also a promotion for SONY’s new movie, FIRED UP.

All participating teams were asked to perform a routine up to one minute in length that included the words FIRED UP. The only stipulation was that the teams could not use music in their performance. At the end of the competition, the SU cheer squad was announced the winner and a finalist in the national competition to be held on MTV.com.

SU’s winning performance will now be posted on the popular networks website at http://firedup.MTV.com, where they will compete against other teams around the nation for the FIRED UP grand prize of $5000. Voting is limited to one vote per voter (or e-mail address) per day and will be based on three elements: 1) Execution, 2) Style, and 3) Originality.
