Mike Hirai joined the Seattle U softball coaching staff prior to the 2025 season.
Hirai brings a wealth of softball knowledge to the program having coached youth sports for the past 30 years. Over the past eight years, he has specialized in coaching fast pitch softball at the helm of the Newport Fastpitch Softball team. On top of his head coaching duties with the Knights, Hirai worked as a coach with the Washington Ladyhawks and one of their 18 Gold level teams.
During his career, Hirai has led his teams to the LL State Championship, LL Regionals and LL Junior World Series.
Hirai founded and coached Snohomish SWAT 02 for five years, guiding the team to multiple local championships and high finishes in national tournaments.
Hirai is the brother of Seattle U softball head coach Geoff Hirai.
