Dr. Michael Erickson serves as the head team physician for all Seattle University's 20 varsity sport programs. He has been involved with Seattle University athletics since 2008. His role includes coordinating pre-participation physicals, health and safety policy management, physician care and coverage coordination, physician examinations for injury or general health and wellness. A head team physician serves as the final authority for medical eligibility as it pertains to their participation in intercollegiate athletics.
Dr. Erickson's primary physician role is serving as the associate director of the Swedish Sports Medicine Program Fellowship in Seattle and a sports medicine physician caring for children and adults. Dr. Erickson is trained to treat a variety of musculoskeletal injuries and medical conditions. He received his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine, and is board certified in Sports Medicine as well as Family Medicine with Obstetrics. From 2005 to 2011 Dr. Erickson served as the site director for the Seattle Indian Health Board Family Medicine Program, which is part of the University of Washington's Regional Family Medicine Network.
