Matt Bomar is the Assistant Athletics Director for Finance and Business Operations at Seattle University, a role he has held since December 2018. He first joining the athletic department as the business office Operations Coordinator in October 2017. He is a member of the Redhawks' senior leadership team and manages the day-to-day business operations for the athletics department.
Bomar is responsible for budget preparation, daily and monthly monitoring and tracking of the Athletics Department annual operating budget. He works closely with each program and team in the department to prepare individual program and team budgets, as well as the overall athletics department budget. Bomar’s responsibilities also include reviewing and auditing procurement card expenses, expense reports, requisitions and supplier invoice payments. He prepares the annual EADA and NCAA reports and prepares the NCAA agreed upon procedures each year. In addition, he serves as the sport supervisor for men’s and women’s swimming and men’s and women’s golf programs.
Bomar came to SU in the fall of 2017 following a stint as the Accounting Manager at First and Goal Inc., working for the Seattle Seahawks and Sounders in their retail and food & beverage division. Prior to his time in Seattle, he was a member of the Athletics Business Office staff at Arizona State University (2012-15).
He began his career in college athletics as a graduate assistant and later a business office intern at Gonzaga University (2009-2011).
Bomar earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting and finance at York College (NE) where he lettered in cross country and track & field. He later earned his Master of Sport and Athletic Administration from Gonzaga University.
Bomar is originally from La Junta, Colo. He and his wife, Brenna, and daughter, Evelyn, live in West Seattle, Wash.
