The 2020-21 season marks the second season for Lauren Malthaner as a member of the Seattle U swimming coaching staff, after being formally announced in September 2019.
Malthaner came to Seattle after spending the 2018-19 campaign in Stockton, Calif., as an assistant for the Tigers. During a stint at Pacific, she was responsible for the creation and leading training workouts as well as recruiting in addition to other duties.
A native of Spokane, Wash., Malthaner swam Breaststroke as she competed collegiately at Fresno Pacific, helping the Sunbirds appear in four-straight NAIA Championships and lifted overall women’s swim titles in 2010 and 2011. Malthaner also captured individual success on the big stage, winning silver in the 100-yard and 200-yard Breaststroke during the 2012 NAIA Championships and earned gold in the 200-yard event in 2011.
Malthaner graduated from Fresno Pacific in 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and is working towards her Master’s Degree from Fuller Theological Seminary. Other previous coaching experience for Malthaner includes a head coaching role at Menlo School and primary direction at King’s Swim Academy.
