Laina Sobczak

Laina graduated from Seattle University with a Sociology Degree in 2008 and played four years of NCAA Division II basketball there while receiving all academic honors. She was named Freshman of the Year in the 2004-05, and also made second team and honorable mention All GNAC. Laina was the  tenth member of the 1,000-point club for Seattle University women’s basketball. She finished her career with 1,075 points and 605 career rebounds, eighth on SU’s career scoring and rebounding lists. 
 
Laina enrolled in Graduate School at SU beginning in fall 2008 getting a master's degree in Sports Administration and Leadership. Her career goals are to become a special events director for a professional sports team.

Here duties for the Men's Basketball team are:

  • Prepares pre event attendee information, accommodations and mailings
  • Responsible for coordinating, under the direction of the Development Director, all of the organization’s special events which includes an annual dinner/silent auction, The O'Brien Open, a lunchen, basketball camps and other partner events.
  • Serve as the point of contact for staff, committee members, sponsors, venue contacts, and support vendors.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with all event sponsors, ensuring interest and goals of sponsor are understood and all event deadlines are met.
  • Work with internal staff, registration company and sponsors to ensure guests are confirmed, logos secured and deadlines followed. 
  • Manage database, systems and record-keeping procedures to identify and track current and potential donors and to record, report, acknowledge and steward all gifts. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
