Coach Joy joined the Seattle U staff as an assistant coach in the fall of 2022.
Before coaching at Seattle U, Coach Joy was a high jump and javelin coach at Roosevelt High School in Seattle, Washington. While at Roosevelt, Coach Joy coached Annika Jewett, current javelin school record holder at Roosevelt, and helped Jewett qualify for the WIAA State Championships.
Before her year at Roosevelt, Joy coached sprints, high jump, and javelin at West Seattle High School from 2018-2022. Joy was a critical part to the program success, mentoring and coaching multiple athletes to become DI collegiate athletes, state pleacers, and state record holders. Most noteably, Coach Joy helped coach Chloe Cunliffe, who ended up becoming a professional pole vaulter. Joy also obtained her USA Track and Field Level 1 Certification at this point of time.
Before starting her coaching career, Joy was also an accomplished athlete at Central Washington University, where she competed from 2012-2017. Joy earned All-GNAC honors in the pentathlon and long jump, while additionally competing in the high jump, 400m hurdles, and heptathlon at the GNAC Championships.
As a high school athlete, Joy represented John F Kennedy High School, where she placed third in the 4x100m relay, ninth in the 4x200m relay, and 11th in the 200m at the WIAA State Championships.
