Hulbert-Eagan oversees the academic performance of all student-athletes, with a particular emphasis on supporting the men's and women's basketball programs. Hulbert-Eagan will also serve to connect student-athletes with the university's academic support and advising programs, such as the Learning Center. She will also work closely with the Coordinated Advising Team (CAT) and assist Erin Engelhardt, Assistant Athletic Director for Student-Athlete Support, with APR and other academic enrichment initiatives.
From 2001-2009, Hulbert-Eagan served as the athletic department's director of academic services at the University of Utah, managing a staff of advisors, learning specialists, interns, mentors, and tutors. She trained her staff in the areas of assessment, learning strategies, and accommodations. Additionally, she developed and implemented programs that included peer mentoring, senior exit plans, and the Ute Football Summer Bridge.
During her time in Salt Lake City, the University of Utah saw yearly improvement in its Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR), as well as a significant rise in the grade point averages of freshman football players in their first year of classes. Hulbert-Eagan also succeeded in providing increased access to learning specialists for all students, not just student-athletes.
Hulbert-Eagan spent 17 years at the University of Utah, starting her tenure on campus as a principal disabilities advisor in the Center for Disabilities Services. She developed individualized academic support plans based on documented learning, physical, and psychological disabilities. She received both her Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and her Master of Education degree in special education from the University of Utah.
